PTAC Cleaning ($35 - $175)
The large variance in the price for cleaning the PTAC unit depends on the volume of units to be cleaned and accessibility. If you have multiple units to be cleaned, we can clean between 10 - 15 systems per man during an 8-10 hr day. That includes removing the PTAC from the room, cleaning the unit, re-installing, and running the system through all modes for final check. This service is quoted as per unit.
If you have just 1 PTAC to be cleaned, the service would be $150 - $200. Depending on accessibility and labor.
Every PTAC manufacturer recommends a complete cleaning at least once per year or more. In corrosive environments such as near salt water, cleaning must be performed more often, up to three times a year. Deep cleaning the evaporator and condenser coils of PTAC units removes the dirt, debris and mold that is embedded inside that inhibits the exchange process, creates poor indoor air quality and reduces the life of the PTAC unit. The cleaning process enables the coils to return to their originally designed performance capacity by increasing airflow and optimizing efficiency. Condensate (Base) pans within PTACs must also be routinely serviced or mold/bacteria will grow within the pans resulting in mildew-like odors.
Many of these units have poor drainage, constant usage or sub-par maintenance. As a result, PTAC units experience odor issues, dirt and dust problems and mold build up. Additionally, because these types of units go through walls to the outside, they tend to transfer heat and cold through their metal frames from the outside to the inside, making it even more difficult to maintain inside temperatures and keep energy consumption down. Without the ability to cool effectively, moisture trapped inside the unit can create dangerous mold buildup.
